We discuss the “What the Health” documentary and how it is important that before you trust any information given on health and wellness you look to see who funded the work or study because there is a lot of bad information out there. Like most of the information in this documentary.

In This Episode: 

  • This documentary, What the Health, is pro veganism, the stance of this podcast is not anti-vegan.
  • NPR posted a study that said that 90% of the studies that are funded by the food industry come up with outcomes that favor the sponsor’s interest.
  • One claim in the film that is completely wrong is that meat and animal products cause cancer.
  • Another claim: Eating processed meat is as bad for you as smoking.
  • Another claim: eating an egg is the equivalent of smoking five cigarettes.
  • Another claim: Drinking milk causes cancer. We talk about other reasons to maybe avoid dairy but milk is not directly linked to cancer. 
  • Another claim: One serving of processed meat per day raises the risk of diabetes by 51%. 
  • Another claim: Fish is toxic.
  • Areas we agree: eat more vegetables, dairy is not great for you,
